Drissia Nejma (France / Morocco)

Born in Morocco, I grew up in a family fond of festivities, dance and music which had a profound impact on me as it shaped what would later become my true passion: dancing. As a teenager, in Casablanca, meeting new friends who happened to share this very same passion sealed my determination to commit my life and energy to the mastering and perfecting of the Egyptian-style Oriental dance art form.

Being fluent in Literary Arabic, and playing the percussions enable me to develop a better understanding and thus a more subtle interpretative approach to the music I choose to create choregraphies on. Freedom and harmony without betraying the essence of this art form is what I keep aiming for and share with my students.

I learned with professional Musician Haki Kilik and after I came to Cairo to improve my pedagogy of  Oriental Dance with Diana Tarkhan whom I thank.

Today, I continue learning rythms with professional percussionists Haki Kilik and Imed Alibi and regularly attend seminars for professional dancers with world famous Egyptian dancer and choregrapher Momo Kadous.

creation of a choreography on the subject from Indus to Guadalquivir for the festival QUARTIER LIBRE of Montpellier  chosen by some professional choreographers and artists.

I had the privilege to be one of the 3 choreographers who trained the twice award winner Hafsia Herzi for her part in Abdellatif Kechiches 4 Cesars winner film 2008.
With only a few lessons, Hafsia learned to develop some Oriental Dance techniques while retaining and expressing her own unique style. This reflects precisely my conception of teaching: sharing my expertise and encouraging a personal interpretation.

I obtained a professional degree in Education and cultural animation (BPJEPS OPTION CULTURE)
participation in the creation of an Andalusian spectacle Bronce and Encage for the 10th  Edition of hivernales of Beziers.

I created of a choreography an a Tale thousand and one night with a professional speaker, Kamel Guennoun, in a partnership with the general council of Languedoc Roussillon.
